Virgin Mastertronic “launched” the Mega Drive to the European press at the Hôtel de Sully in Paris on the 19th of June, a few months ahead of the actual release.The firm was also responsible for distribution across the UK, Spain and Germany and was aiming for a similar launch window, while others such as Italian distributor Giochi Preziosi would start selling their stock around November, having introduced the console to Italian audiences at the 1990 SIM-Hi-Fi IVES event between the 20th and 24th of September.
